A free AquaColorFix alternative for dive video

AquaColorFix is a capable app. If you have hit its limits – the watermark, the paid tier, the phone-only workflow – here is what the Nordrift browser tool does differently, and where AquaColorFix still wins.

Open water is the hard case: blue should stay blue.

AquaColorFix in short

AquaColorFix corrects underwater photos and videos with one tap and offers named presets. The free version saves with a watermark and limits video; the Pro in-app purchase removes the watermark and allows unlimited video exports.

When to stay with AquaColorFix

If you mostly correct photos, AquaColorFix does that and we do not (yet). For video – especially 4K60 or a whole dive – the browser tool is free, full resolution and batch.

Switching takes two minutes

  1. Copy the clips to a computer (or open the tool on Android).
  2. Drop them into the app.
  3. Press Start – the output is a normal MP4 next to the original.

Facts about AquaColorFix come from its public store page and website in October 2026 and may change. AquaColorFix is a trademark of its owner; Nordrift is not affiliated.

What you give up, honestly

AquaColorFix lives on your phone, so you can correct a clip on the boat and post it from the same screen. The Nordrift tool runs in a browser: on Android and on iPhone (Safari 17+, beta) it works on the phone as well, but it is at its best on a laptop with a graphics card, where a 4K dive runs at or above real time. There is no community feed, no dive log and no built-in sharing – it does one thing, and it does it for the whole folder at once.

Same clip, both ways

The quickest comparison is your own footage: correct one clip in AquaColorFix, drop the same original into the Nordrift app, and compare them side by side on a big screen. Look at the open water behind the subject (does it stay blue or drift towards purple?), at fine texture in sand and coral (is the grain acceptable?), and at the moment a diver or a large fish passes (does the colour of the water jump?). Those three spots are where correction tools differ most.

Frequently asked

Is Nordrift really free, unlike AquaColorFix?

Yes. There is no paid tier. The tool is funded by voluntary donations, and the optional corner tag is the only 'marketing' it does.

Can I use it on my phone like an app?

Android with Chrome works today; iPhone with Safari on iOS 17 or newer is in beta. On a computer it is faster and handles 4K60 and 5.3K.

Can I import my AquaColorFix results into Nordrift?

You can run any MP4 through it, but correcting already-corrected footage over-saturates. Use the original clips.
